Me, next, thought Dearka, stomach tensing. These few seconds between Yzak's launching and his own were always the same: that feeling of being poised on the brink, the thread of anxiety for Yzak, the surge of excitement.

Right or wrong, Yzak's always been a leader...

His mind as always at this moment was a kaleidoscope of memories of him and Yzak: a thousand rooms that Yzak had left or entered, with Dearka in his wake; a thousand different situations from childhood onwards where Yzak had led and he had followed.
