In May's issue of
Voice Newtype, there was an interview with Seki Tomokazu and Akira
Sasanuma (Yzak and Dearka's seiyuu).
It's been a while since your last appearance. what are your feelings?
Seki: We did it!
Sasanuma: I'm glad we didn't die!
It's been two years and Yzak and Dearka's relationship has grown, as
friends and comrades/ranks in the military. What do you think of that?
Sasanuma: From what I've heard Yzak is a Commander but Dearka hasn't really
changed and is just by Yzak's side all the time.
Seki: Dearka came back in to the military and was demoted?
Sasanuma: In proper sense, Dearka should have been executed but Yzak used
his power to stop them from doing so. I don't know the details but it's
rumoured so.
In episode 6, there was a reunion with Athrun. Please tell us what you
were thinking during the pre-recording.
Seki: We finally appeared again! (laugh)
Sasanuma: Admittedly, that's the first thing I thought too (laugh)
Seki: I wanted to appear more but that recording ended in a empty dream.
Sasanuma: A empty dream… but even before all three of us had first met,
the scene with us standing in front of Nicol's grave is still in my
memory. In that scene, the director wanted to set the emotion as "no
matter what, we three would come back home" - all of us together, alive. I
remember all three of us saying, "Ah, we‘ve come back home."
Seki: Right, right. In that scene we worked hard and it was a lot of fun.
I remember it clearly in my mind too.
Sasanuma: Instead of thinking of negative things (like bad takes), we
thought to make it the best we could. I remember doing it repeatedly.
Is there a character in Destiny that you're interested in/concerned about?
Sasanuma: Compared to before, isn't Athrun a bit pitiful?
Seki: No, when he thinks straight he screws up. It's better he doesn't
know anything, then he can be reckless.
Sasanuma: Ah, that's true. The other person I'm concerned about is fake
lacus … Meer. That girl, her clothing and her speech. I'm interested in a
lot of ways.
Seki: Does Meer wear a yellow scarf?
Sasanuma: No, she doesn't. (laugh)
Seki: Yellow gloves or something… she's marked by the colour yellow, isn't she?
Sasanuma: (explosive laugh)
Seki: I've always liked and been interested in Murrue Ramius … I want a
sexy girl like that to teach me lot of things. (laugh)
Sasanuma: Talia's sexy too, though.
Seki: She's good too. Her and Dullindal's relationship was quite shock to
me though.
Sasanuma: It's real in a sense, isn't it? Anime usually don't write that
stuff up.
Would you like Dearka and Yzak to have a romantic relationship?
Seki: Yeah, why not? In the game, Yzak had his adoring followers with him.
Firstly though, rather than a romantic relationship or anything, I want to
appear in the edit. (laugh)
Will Dearka and Miriallia's relationship develop any more?
Sasanuma: There isn't anything. If Dearka tried to build up one with her I
think he'd end up making her mad and she'd try to kill him again. Well,
anyway I'd rather first appear in the edit too. (laugh)
If that happens, that might be your last appearance! (laugh)
Sasanuma: That's fine. (laugh)
Seki: It's okay if we die. Since we've come this far, instead of just
staying alive we would rather go off in style in an episode.
Sasanuma: Appealing to the television viewers and fans so that it'll stay
in their hearts.
Seki: If I (Yzak) were to die, I'd want to die protecting Athrun. Seeing
this, Dearka rushes in pushes me out of the way. Then Dearka…
Sasanuma: Wait a minute, then Yzak lives!? (laughs)
Seki: Oh then Yzak would say, "I'm pathetic" and would become depressed. He'd
write a book and publish it, carrying everyone's battle inside it.
Sasanuma: Between Miriallia and Yzak, it'd be better to die protecting his
comrade.
Seki: Right. Since we've come this far instead of a woman, I'd rather die
protecting a comrade too.

Sasanuma: I think we'll be appearing a bit more so look forward to that in
the future. I'm sure there will things to see that you haven't already.
Seki: We might not make the edits but as Yzak I'll do my best. I think
everyone should come together and cherish the airtime.
So there you have it kinda. XD They approve of the idea of the boys having a
relationship. And they're dorks, and we love them.
